Bright molded chairs, acrylic clocks, and colorful lamp shades are some of the most fun pieces of the era. They are also some of the most fragile, and the wrong cleaner can ruin them in seconds.
Skip the harsh cleaners
Many household sprays and solvents will cloud acrylic or cause fine cracks. Start with lukewarm water, a drop of mild soap, and a soft microfiber cloth.
Keep them out of strong sun
UV light fades color and makes some plastics brittle over time. A spot away from a bright window will keep a piece looking right much longer.
Small cracks are often repairable
Hairline cracks, chips, and scratches can usually be stabilized, filled, and polished. Color matching takes patience, but the result can be close to invisible.
